| These pages provide a somewhat detailed description of the Weather Satellite Software that I have developed. This software is available for download, so understanding this description is not essential to using or operating the software. The current versions have substantial enhancements compared to what is described in the pages linked on the left side of the screen. For fuller descriptions, please see my Satellite Tools page. For polar orbiting satellites I offer - WXtrack (satellite orbit and ground track prediction, can drive an antenna rotor), SatSignal (APT wave file demodulation), and an HRPT file reader which can read multiple data formats including HRPT data downloaded from the Internet. If you wish to rectify the images from SatSignal or the HRPT Reader to a standard map projection, you will find my GroundMap program an essential tool. My Kepler Manager provides automation of Kepler data handling, including the multi-entry Keplers required for accurate geo-location of historical data. For geostationary satellites, my SatSignal program can demodulate WEFAX sound files from a variety of satellites (although WEFAX is being replaced by LRIT), and GeoSatSignal provides a comprehensive set of image processing functions including false-colour processing, fire detection, rectification of the images to standard map projections (e.g. Mercator), overlay of weather data (e.g. mean sea-level pressure charts), animation and so on. For Meteosat-8 users I can offer a variety of programs to help you manage data from the EUMETCast data stream. The MSG Data Manager is the core component of the MSG Toolset Plus suite and assembles images and weather data from the raw encoded files. You can view animations in real-time with the MSG Animator, or perform more complex processing with GeoSatSignal. My AVHRR Manager converts the polar-orbiter data from NOAA-17 and NOAA-18 into composite files for a complete European pass which can be viewed with my HRPT Reader, and the Kepler Manager will also help automate processes. There is much more in the data stream, and you may want to look at my ATOVS Reader, GRIB Viewer, HDF Viewer and Sea-Ice Viewer to handle some of these new data sources. Because you may wish to have a group of programs to suit your interests (polar orbiters or Meteosat-8), I do offer suites called the MSG Toolset Plus and the HRPT Toolset, containing multiple programs.
