Whilst I still take an interest in Astronomy, my career activities these days are centered around Geology.

Through both holidays and geology, I have travelled extensively in Sweden, from Skane to Lapland.  Most forms of transport have featured in holiday travels - from the stately old Göta Kanal steamers between Stockholm and Göteborg, and the exciting Inlandsbanan (inland railway) from Mora to Gallivare, to the extensive internal flight network.  And long distance buses.  And ferries across the Baltic. Jag kan tala Svenska, well, a little bit anyway!

Another interest is Swedish classical music - an enthusiasm I've endeavoured to spread by teaching evening classes covering Kraus, Bellman's songs and Gustavian opera, through to Rosenberg, Pettersson and Lidholm.  An MS Access database helps me keep track of compositions and recordings.

..... and I have a hobby interest in the literature of James Joyce - keen enough to go along to the occasional academic conference with David in tow ....
